DAY 178: THE EMUS ENTER DAIRY COUNTRY. THE COWS DECLINE TO COMMENT
The history behind it
Yallourn's open-cut coal mine and power station were 1930s Victoria's industrial pride; the State Electricity Commission declares the grid 'vital to the war effort' and rings it with searchlights. The emus, indifferent to electrification, mainly want the dairy feed.

A Rifleman Line and a Lewis Gun Post on the loading dock guard pallets of feed grain. Fog periodically shortens all gun telegraph ranges — sneak in with the weather.
Yallourn Power Station Perimeter

Two Searchlight Towers overlapping a Lewis Gun Post along the coal rail line. Rock-throw the lamps (satisfying glass) or thread the terrain shadows between sweeps.
Sale Cavalry Remount Station
Homestead garrison · Defence tier 3
Home paddock of the Gippsland Light Horse: back-to-back Cavalry Patrol charges down the drawn hoofprint trails. Spook the horses with rocks and mop up the ejected riders.
Traralgon Rail Junction
Rail siding · Defence tier 4
A Truck-Mounted Lewis repositions along the junction roads while Field Artillery lobs shells from behind the goods shed. Never stop moving; strand the truck, rush the guns.
